REFLECTION:

Progress requires change. A civil society attempts to accommodate this need through openness, transparency and inclusion. As there is change in society, so are there changes in individuals and relationships as well. Change can generate fear and anxiety, but also can ignite our inborn desire to explore, to flow and grow rather than remain the same. We are accustomed to a rhythm recognizing and accepting that no two days are alike in every way. Our days move quickly, flying by with little time to reflect or resist. That we are transitory, moving from one chore to the next, one person to the next, one location to the next is undeniable. Our placement is displacement, and our displacement is movement. But the movement keeps us fresh. Change for the better is self-improvement. Some prefer to stand still, to play it safe, to wait on the corner to be found, discovered, rescued. Some will be lucky. But the price this strategy extracts is a growing and eventually overpowering sense of powerlessness that over time may convert to bitterness. We were born to move, to move on, not so much to reach a destination but to find one.
