A Prayer For You At Passover and Easter.

Mike Magee

This is the week of Passover and Easter, a perfect time to reflect on truth and meaning, direction and relationships, hope and health. So I spent a few moments reviewing others’ words and thoughts. They are from a different time but are timeless. I then tried to condense their thoughts and create a small passage at the end of this piece to share with you. I hope you enjoy it. Have a blessed weekend!

Sources:

“Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification, but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.”
Helen Keller

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
Timothy 4:7

“Without risk, faith is an impossibility.”
Søren Kierkegaard

“God will be present, whether asked or not.”
Latin proverb

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Hebrews 11:1

“There is not enough darkness in all the world to put out the light of even one small candle.”
Robert Alden

“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer.”
Albert Camus

“Fear is the absence of faith.”
Paul Tillich

“Doubt is a pain too lonely to know that faith is his twin brother.”
Kahlil Gibran

“If you keep on saying things are going to be bad, you have a good chance of being a prophet.”
Isaac Bashevis Singer

“Give God time.”
The Koran

“Faith moves mountains, but you have to keep pushing while you are praying.”
Mason Cooley

“As your faith is strengthened, you will find that there is no longer the need to have a sense of control, that things will flow as they will, and that you will flow with them, to your great delight and benefit.”
Emmanuel

“I had a lover’s quarrel with the world.”
Robert Frost

My Summary:

Fidelity, commitment to a worthy purpose. Given little else, this is enough for happiness. Keeping the faith. Fighting the fight. Taking a risk to benefit someone other than yourself, with God on your side, at your side. Faith is to believe in an attainable future, to believe in yourself, and to believe in a connection between the two. A single spirit can ignite a brilliant flame, and light the way toward change. That extra light’s a help because, with each step, certainty can never be assured. Risk is always there even for the explorer. Faith is an inner strength, exposed by trial. It is invincible but absent in those consumed by fear. Fear and doubt are a powerless couple, and prophesize their own defeat, rushing headlong to their own doom. Faith takes time, gives time, and is of positive assistance to those who will try. Faith is flow, the ability to be drawn along by the current without need to resist or control one’s every movement or destiny, without need to quarrel with the world.
