On December 31, 2021, our family received a Holiday Card from Ned and Annie Lamont and their family. Its message so capsulized our own feelings that I wanted to share the message with you. Here is their wish – and ours as well.

Nothing is more important than family and sometimes “family” means more than shared blood. Resilience and grace are enviable attributes to come out of troubled times. All too often hate and increased belief in false truths and evil leaders is the result of such conflict. Grace and resilience are not going to save our democracy from the forces of fascism sweeping through the so called “conservative” portion of our body politic. As always the devil is in the details. How we save the ideals of “America” from those seeking power by any means will be the true zeitgeist of 2022.

As always, Larry, thanks for your insights – and especially for focusing a light on the “shared nature” of the human family. Certainly agree that 2022 will be determinative on the future of American democracy. Happy New Year! Mike
