A variant of this approach is to find out who doctors go to for their own healthcare. When I needed a personal physician after moving to a new town I conducted an informal poll of my colleagues and was astonished (but probably shouldn't have been) to find that many went to the same person. I'll bet you'd find a similar thing if you polled nurses about where they go for care.
